Point to Ponder: What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, For all that we love deeply becomes a part of us. - Helen Keller
Story Line: Intel Inside ( Always)
I left Intel over 9 years ago (with wonderful memories) but Intel has never left me. And the fondest of those memories are the people I met, places I visited and experiences I had which enriched my career and life in many ways.
It was something about that environment that so many work relationships during my two job assignments there, 1983-85 and 1997-2015, have become lifelong friendships, and in some cases it’s expanded to our second and third generations ( Kids and Grandkids). There is not a single day without some form of communication with some of those friends (100+) and/or not a single month without meeting few of those friends. And since coming to Penang, no week goes by without meeting few of those former work associates ( Now Friends).
For me, a lot of credit goes to that culture and environment. I understand the company and current employees are going through some very challenging times. Yes I too have some stories; some funny, may be a few bitter, and some about inefficient things about the place ( save for another day).
Reflection: But forever I am thankful to Intel for enormous opportunities it provided for learning and growth, make significant contributions that had positive impact on mankind, and make life long friendships.
I am no longer inside Intel but forever Intel will be inside of me.
Anand, a wonderful sentiment and one that truly resonates with me. I too am grateful for the experiences and development over the years. Most of all, I will cherish the work relationships that have become the long lasting friendships. Cheers to you and your family!

Anand, You have been a great friend who has poured a lot in each of the people's lives you have encountered. Part of that connection is missing in a world where we are hyperconnected with millions but live primarily a self focused manner. You used technology to create/keep deep relationships over time. I am sure you would have been the same in any other company :)

The people we worked sure made the difference in our professional lives.

It is the employees that make the company great and the business happen.
Long after the company or the factory is gone, the network of people still remain.
It is to the people that I owe my allegiance, not the company. Especially to true leaders and friends people such as Anand, I give my profound thanks and appreciation.

Amidst a run of layoffs at my first job, Chevron Research, the department director said this at an all-hands meeting: "think hard about what you want to do; you won't have a big impact on Chevron, but Chevron will have a big impact on you."
How right he was. That awful environment drove me to the semiconductor business, a process engineer for Intel, and what a life-long blessing that turned out to be. The quality of people I worked with over the next 23 years was leaps and bounds beyond anything in the oil business. Thank you Chevron, for making my career path clear to me.
