Happy Mother’s Day
Point to Ponder: Are you telling me that you've never seen an angel? Never felt the presence of one standing by?..........
Well you missed the most obvious thing. Aw man, are you blind? Just look in your mothers eyes.
Story Line: Angels by Randy Travis. Please listen to this beautiful song by Randy dedicated to Mothers.
A Few Lines:
Me and some of the boys were sitting around the other night
Started talking about politics, religion, love and life
And what a shame it was about 9/11
And what about hell and what about heaven
And is there or isn't there angels on earth
And then one guy said
Well you can take that for what it's worth
If it's something I can see or something I can touch
Well I might believe in all that stuff
So I just had to say to him
Are you telling me that you've never seen an angel?
Never felt the presence of one standing by?
No robe of white
No halo in site
Well you missed the most obvious thing
Man, are you blind?
Just look in your mothers eyes

Reflection: I have been fortunate to have two mothers who have significant influence on my life. Each-one’s life experiences are polar opposite of the other. Mom who brought me to this world developed my interest in reading. She would also take me to her friends of many Faiths and cultures and emphasize learnings from diversity. At 88, she went kayaking in Lake Tahoe with our son in law and at 93 does daily poses of yoga; watching them already gives me pain and I avoid doing them.
My second mother (also my wife’s mother) had a very different life full of challenges. At age 12, she was left alone to raise three younger siblings. She witnessed the atrocities of war and escaped death by enemy soldiers. After rebuilding her life for 30 years, another set of tragedies struck; losing business and a place to stay, and then three teenage sons and husband died in the series of tragedies. But she never gave up and rebuilt her life. (appropriate subject in current times: for the next Friday reflection). She taught us to value little things in life and understand that tough times do not last but tough people do.
I am incredibly grateful to these mothers for valuable gifts that shaped my life.
In ninth grade our Hindi teacher told us lines from a song from a 1966 movie ‘Daadi Ma’ that are appropriate dedication to them and all mothers: “We haven’t seen Him but Dear Mother how can God‘s beauty be any different than yours?"

Touched by your reflections... You are very fortunate to have had an opportunity to be with two mothers. Appreciating them also requires another level of maturity !.. nice to see you in that state 🙂
