- Workers: It is people who makes things happen not machines (Pravin R Shah). “We hire workers, but those who arrive are human beings” (Carol and Jack Weber).
- Be Proactive: The late Steven Covey in his book, Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, writes about an employee name Ben. When the other employees in the company are busy talking about why a new idea won’t work, Ben finds solutions. I have met such Bens in my career, and by being proactive, they not only solve the current problem but also increase their knowledge, develop more contacts and in doing so, gain credibility. When big opportunities come, the Bens of the world are more prepared than their peers and they rapidly rise through the ranks.
- Managing and Coaching: Managing people and teams is more about psychology, not technology.
- Compliance vs Choice: Training may be mandatory but learning is optional.
- Job: Love what you do or find love in what you do.
- Degree vs Education: People falsely associate degree with education. Respect every job function and each person doing those jobs.
- Constancy of purpose: Follow what you believe in and stay with it long enough to develop ratio of results: “If I fail, if I succeed, at least I did what I believe, no matter what they take from me, they can’t take away my dignity.”
- Relationship: “If you find someone, Who makes you smile, who checks upon you often to see you’re OK, who watches out for you and wants what is the best for you, who loves you and respects you, don’t let them go. Keep them close and don’t take them for granted. People like that are hard to find.” (Source: Passion Quotes of life)
- Surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and thinkers, but most of all surround yourself with those who see greatness within you, even when you don’t see it yourself.
- Never say sorry for being honest.
- “Don’t compare your life to others’. You don’t know what their journey is all about.”
- “The best kind of people (Bosses, Mentors, Friends) are those who come in your life, and make you see the sun where you once saw clouds. People who believe in you so much, that you start to believe in you too. They are once in a lifetime type of people."
- Raising Children: Don’t educate your child to be rich. Educate him to be happy. So when he grows up, he will know the value of things not the price. And listen to your children, they might be right more than you think.
